A values-driven not-for-profit organisation is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join their finance team on a temporary basis. This organisation delivers 20+ diverse community programs, resulting in a high volume, fast-paced AP function where accuracy, coding discipline, and stakeholder communication are essential. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work while supporting a collaborative finance environment.
Your new role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of end-to-end Accounts Payable. Given the diversity and complexity of their funding streams and programs, you will need to demonstrate strong capability in managing multiprogram invoice splitting, coding integrity, and vendor support.
Your duties will include:
- Invoice Processing high volume processing including verifying coding across multiple programs, checking approvals, and ensuring compliance with organisational and funding requirements.
- Payment Runs preparing and processing weekly payment runs with accuracy and timeliness.
- Vendor Support investigating and resolving invoice discrepancies, responding to vendor queries, and building strong working relationships.
- Reconciliations –reconciling supplier statements and ensuring AP ledgers reflect accurate balances.
- EOM Support assists the finance team with month-end tasks, accruals, and reporting as required.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in Accounts Payable within a complex or mufti cost centre environment.
- Strong capability of accurately coding and analysing invoice splits, ideally supporting multiple programs or funding streams.
- High attention to detail and confidence working with large volumes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise professionally with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency with finance systems and intermediate Excel skills.
- Availability for an immediate start and commitment for at least 8 weeks, with potential for extension.
